What you’ll do with Susanne
We will be using gouache (specifically) to work on your art piece.
I will walk through with you to create the art piece step-by-step from the beginning of the process until the end. Together we will make a calendar to pay homage to Malaysia’s local fauna and flora!
Note: The minimum age requirement is 5 years old
In this workshop, you will learn how to:
- Gather conceptual ideas and create a piece of illustration art
- Basic painting techniques
- Play with gouache and watercolor
- Layering and activate dried colors
- Mix and match colors
- Create unique eye catching color palette
- Layout and composition
- Create space for text / numbering
- How to create patterns, shapes, unique textures for overall landscape
Meet your Instructor
Susanne LowArtist, Illustrator
Hi, I am Susanne, an illustrator and business owner of my own studio where we create quirky, whimsical, colourful and imaginary illustrations while producing them into print products. Over the past 5 years, I’ve been hosting workshops and teaching students on illustration, unleashing potential in them and bringing a joyful and meaningful experience to them.
I use both, traditional and digital medium to execute my illustration work depending on your specific requirements. I am particularly interested in gouache and watercolour painting with a touch of colour pencil texture and details. I believe that anyone of any age can produce illustrations to tell their own story using any medium. With so many reasons to be bored at home right now, I have made sure that this activity is kid-friendly (little to no parental supervision is required)! Come make friends! I am looking forward to creating some colourful artwork with you together soon!

What do you need to prepare?
- Round brushes with small, medium, big and one flat brush.
- Any size of watercolour plate
- Get a thick good quality watercolor paper for the best result
- 1 x Set of Water colour/Poster Colour
