2. Find romance under the tropics! – Japamala Resort Pulau Tioman (Tioman Island)
While it seems like Pulau Tioman caters and attracts the diving crowd, it does not mean that the island doesn’t provide for those looking for more privacy, romance and luxury! You can still enjoy all of those aspects; that is if you opt for the right place to stay of course.
One that doesn’t disappoint is Japamala Resort, a splashy oceanfront enclave spoiling couples with their scenic chalets set in the jungle or by the sea and where you can spend your holiday daydreaming by your lover’s side. 3. For fun couples who like eclectic ambience! – Dash Resort Langkawi
If you’ve ever dreamt of escaping to Ibiza for your honeymoon, this one’s for you! Where else to celebrate your new life together than at a resort with a beach club? Watch out for Dash Resort Langkawi, an exciting stay blending design, fashion and where the both are you get to sit back, relax and have fun!
But besides all the excitement, you’ll find several corners around the resort where all you can do is chill and lay back to shake off your everyday lives and just relax. It does not have to cost you an arm and a leg to honeymoon on a private island. Gem Island is as dreamy as it sounds and what an appropriate name, it’s almost a fantasy to the ears!
There’s truly no better way to enjoy your nuptials than checking into a private island resort which features only suites and villas (some of which stand above the ocean)!

8. Find a slice of Jaipur (India) right in Penang! – Eastern & Oriental Hotel (Penang)
This century-old hotel in the heart of Georgetown is an exceptional hideaway, far removed from reality and the perfect place to relish each other’s company. It makes for an absurdly romantic setting that brings you back in time.
And though it originally pays homage to the Bristin colonial era, I like to think of it as a slice of Jaipur (India) right in Penang – blame it on the oriental accents that are both elegant and charming, similar to the heritage buildings in the land of Bollywood!
There’s something special about Eastern & Oriental Hotel, and even more after it’s officially opened its Heritage Wing (an expansion as at December 2019). If you ask me, besides being a stunning honeymoon destination, it could well be your potential wedding venue to begin with!
The hotel features nothing but suites (including a writer’s suite!) and the most affordable of them comes with sea views; I’d take that anytime!

9. Go on a glamorous camping experience at this en-suite tent – Tiarasa Escapes Glamping Resort (Bentong)
Charming doesn’t even begin to describe this place – an option that’s a little closer to Kuala Lumpur, one that’ll only require 45 minutes’ drive!
Yes, a honeymoon escape can get as simple as that when you can find such stunning locations within Malaysia. One of them is Tiarasa Escapes which features safari-style tents and treetop villas that give you a taste of Africa without having to fly overseas! Okay, not so Africa-like when it comes to the weather as it can get chilly but hey, we love a good escape from the Asian heat isn’t it?
As you walk through the almost-Amazonian-like forest where the stay is set in, it’ll be tough to be reminded that you’re still in Malaysia – the surroundings feel untouched and the air is fresh as it is nestled in the cool foothills, surrounded by fruit orchards.
In the middle, surrounded by the glamourous tents, you’ll find a free-form pool, making your stay that much more seductive until it’s time for the communal bonfire, held nightly from 7pm – the perfect occasion to keep yourself warm in your lover’s arms!

There’s a few things Kunang Kunang offers you – the feeling of being at home, the pleasures of reconnecting with local culture and the delights of immersing in nature. And that’s just the right experience to share with your life partner, or even family and friends.
Who ever thought of even staying at a heritage villa when in Langkawi? I mean, all that you picture about the island are probably beaches, resorts and seafood; that’s until you get to check out Kunang Kunang Heritage Villa – a hidden gem that lets you sleep in authentic century-old Malay houses that make you feel like you’ve stepped into a museum, an almost heritage site.
Now, this is absolutely not something for those looking for fancy, glitzy staycation; there’s no air conditioning (but they have in-room fans), rather it is if you want to experience simple life back in the days, with no stress and worry – very laid-back and down-to-earth!

11. One for Tarzan and Jane – Belum Rainforest Resort (Perak)
Sometimes both of you desire the best of both worlds – to be in the lap of mother nature as well as ultimate intimacy, and that’s when Belum Rainforest Resort comes in. This stunning eco-tourism destination is located in Perak, in the middle of a 130+-year-old untouched jungle!
Not that we’re against the glitzy typical beach resorts but what could possibly be better than getting close to nature, enjoying pure relaxation and throwing in some adrenaline-pumping activities at some point while on honeymoon?
And Belum Rainforest Resort also brings you to pristine environments where you can get up close with wildlife, nature and adventure.
You can explore the forest and get insightful information from their experienced guides, jump on a kayak and discover the majestic lake or spot on feathered beauties; there are endless possibilities! And when I say “endless”, it begins with their accommodation options – there are over nine different types of rooms.
My favourite one is probably their houseboat that floats in the middle of Belum Temengor Lake; but you’ll have to come with family and friends to cover the cost as it accommodates up to 14 people!

From Kuala Lumpur, it is recommended to take the North-South Highway and head north towards Ipoh. Then, take the Kuala Kangsar exit and head towards Gerik, bypassing the town of Lenggong. Heading onwards to Jeli, Kelantan, this highway will take you straight to Pulau Banding.

12. A getaway 40 minutes’ drive from the city! – The Acres Resort (Bentong/Bukit Tinggi)
There are a few reasons why we believe that The Acres Resort is honeymoon-worthy.
First, its convenient location, because if you’re coming from KL, you’ll just have to hit the road for merely 40 minutes before you get to enjoy your nuptials (wink, wink!). Second, being nestled among the hills, you’ll be in for chilly weathers that call for unlimited cuddles with your lover!
Their infinity pool with mountainous views is pretty inviting too if you ask me but some guests have complained about the road conditions to reach the resort as it’s a bumpy ride and absolutely not recommended at night so make sure you head there while it’s bright!
Besides lazing the day away, they also have a little petting farm you could visit or you can cycle around in the area, reconnect with nature, take in the amazing views and fresh air you can’t possibly get in the city!

Feel like Beauty and the Beast when you step into The Chateau Spa & Organic Wellness Resort. If you haven’t had a royal wedding, well it is time to be a prince and princess while on your honeymoon!
One hour drive from KL brings you to what looks like a century-old castle, hidden in the chilly highlands of Bukit Tinggi and surrounded by lush greenery. The Chateau turns your fairytale into reality – It’s romantic and enchanting. It is also deemed to be the first organic spa destination in Malaysia so you can be sure that your health and well-being will be taken care of!
In the surroundings, you can walk out to the nearby Colmar Tropicale, a medieval french village modelled after the ones you can find across France. Or you could also explore the mini Japanese Village before plunging into their salt water pool!
Food opinions are debatable but you might be better off eating from outsides, Genting Highlands is in close proximity so that feels almost like a double getaway all at once!

15. You won’t believe you can find such scenery in Cyberjaya!! – Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa (Cyberjaya)
Whether it’s for a honeymoon close to home or if you both are figuring out what to do with those last remaining few vacation days you have left, a road trip to Cyberjaya is calling. Yes, you did not read us wrong; wait till you get to Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa.

Getting there (from KL):
