Vacations with my besties is always something I look forward to, especially when everyone’s been so caught up with work and hasn’t had quality time together. So whenever the holidays come around, a getaway is just what we need!

But the struggle that most of us face is, we can’t really enjoy ourselves completely when we are still ironically, surrounded by other people. Which is why we love to spend our time together in private villas, especially ones with private pools! You can swim whenever you want, lounge whenever you want, and most of all, you won’t have to worry about old aunties judging your bathing suits.

Just a little tip from us – before you book, do check with the host if the pool has been cleaned, as according to past reviews, sometimes there might be little hiccups! Once that’s all sorted out, get the gang ready for the staycation you’ve all been waiting for!

2. This stunning villa has its own game room! – Dolomite Templer (40 minutes from KL, from RM 2096, up to 14 pax)

Located not too far from KL, this villa is the perfect place for a little staycation away from your usuals, and it’s more exciting when you have a group of friends who are down for some fun over the weekend!

Not only is this multi-storey 4 bedroom villa gorgeous, but it has so many rooms that makes it a fun place for you to do all kinds of activities in! You have your own private pool  with a swing, a patio outside overlooking the city and hills, and also a pretty igloo tent where you can chill in at night and have those deep 3am conversations (I love those!).

And if you think that’s cool, wait til’ you hear about their game room! Yes, game room! This place has some fun XBOX games you can play with, a little arcade, and if you’re feeling Instagrammable, you can pose in front of their neon lit angel wings for your IG aesthetics!

3. Bali-inspired glasshouse in Bangsar – Sekeping Tenggiri (in KL, from RM 1750, up to 14 pax)

Is your heart longing for Bali? Although flying across the border may not seem possible right now, perhaps you can travel to one that’s just right at home!

When it comes to getaways, I love travelling to places where it’s all trees and nothing but trees, such as staying in a forest villa with a private pool, some privacy, and most importantly, great company. When I came across Sekeping Tenggiri in Bangsar Baru, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a beautiful Bali-inspired home like this could be found in KL!

This nature-inspired guesthouse is what I consider a hidden gem in KL. Not only because of its location, but also, how often do you find a glasshouse with a private pool and a balcony in the heart of the city? This picturesque place is perfect for staycations especially with its private rooms (7 rooms in total) that can fit up to 3 guests with full household amenities (washing machine, kitchenware, etc).

To top it off, you’ll be greeted by 2 friendly furry friends, Pulau and Ketam, adopted by the host from a local animal NGO, SPCA, to take care of the home together with the housekeeper. But no worries to our Muslim friends who are concerned, they won’t be roaming around freely, they are only here to take care of you.

I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely in the mood for a staycation right now!

4. For all your Insta-friends (super photo-worthy stay!!) – Eighty Seven (45 minutes from KL, from RM 2800, up to 28 pax)

What’s a stay nowadays if it isn’t photogenic and worth being on your social media feed? If your group of friends is all for the likes, they’ll definitely be up for checking out Eighty Seven! It’s no wonder that the location is often rented out for special occasions and events like weddings and yoga retreats.

With floor-to-ceiling windows, you can take in magnificent views of the surrounding lush greenery right from your room and wake up to a sea of clouds traversing the mountains.

You’ll also find plenty of communal spaces to reunite with your group; whether it is in the main infinity pool during the day or the living room that’s decked out with several bean bags. My favourite spot is the small plunge pool that looks perfect for an end-of-day wine session with the girls.

With 7 bedrooms, a total of 10 bathrooms and accommodating up to 28 guests, you can opt to rent the entire villa, or if you’re coming with a smaller group, simply book the ground floor with 5 bedrooms for up to 16 guests; time to crash that long-awaited pool party with your besties!

5. Wake up and breathe in nature’s fresh air on top of a hill! – Sky Villa (1.5h from KL, from RM 1265, up to 10 pax)

If you’ve ever dreamt of waking up to a breathtaking view of vast mountains, sweet tunes of birds chirping and lapping waters of the river streams, this rainforest retreat is where you need to be…come stay at Sky Villa, Kuala Kubu Bharu.

Not too often do you find a beautiful villa situated perfectly on top of the hill,  intimate enough where you feel like the world is yours and no one else can disturb your peace. All we need is a little break, and at Sky Villa, privacy is yours, and yours only.

Of course, the downside to it is that chances are, you’ll have to book way in advance to secure a stay here as it seems to be a popular option for groups of friends and families who come over for special occasions like weddings, proposals, yoga retreats, new year celebrations and even company annual gatherings!

They can’t be blamed though as we can certainly see why it’s a popular choice – the sanctuary is set on a hilltop amongst the mountainous range of Genting Sempah, just a short 1-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, where you can retire amidst chilly weathers and a sea of clouds!

The stay knows nothing but expansive spaces so you’ll never feel clustered even though you are here with 20 other people. And besides the swimming pool, there’s a large yoga deck which can serve as a viewpoint, a billiard table and even tranquil areas for when one needs his alone time!

P.S. Rainforest Sanctuary has other similar properties in the same compound area too, so if this one is sold out, you have other IG-worthy options!

8. Catch breathtaking hillside views from the infinity pool – D’manggis Janda Baik (1 hour from KL, from RM 1500, up to 15 pax)

Do you remember the days when you used to go over to Grandma’s and you’d meet up with your favorite cousins? Now that we’re grown, it’s different. Everyone’s busy with their own schedule and squeezing in some quality family time can be difficult, which is why big family trips are super essential to keep the family spirit going!

Here at D’manggis, you have the luxury of staying in a private bungalow that comes with an infinity pool overlooking the beautiful hillsides, and their rooms are spacious enough to fit up to 15 pax! You can do so many things here, from BBQ parties, to ATV rides and there’s even a special attic where the kids can sleep in! (I’d like to call it the Kids’ HQ.)

You also have the option to choose between 2 bungalows! Bungalow Tuah has a total of 4 rooms with queen beds, and Bungalow Jebat has 5! Both bungalows have similar features and come with a kitchen, Astro TV, and a private balcony. 9. Wake up, and dip right into the pool from your suite! – Carpe Diem Orchard Home Serendah (45 minutes from KL, from RM 2280, up to 20 pax)

Have you ever been to a villa where there’s a water slide that shoots you right from your room and into the pool?

Private luscious pool at your doorstep (with an added jacuzzi), wonderful pond with fishes to catch and release, and not to mention, a mini zoo just metres away from your room, this place is perfect for a private getaway for you and your crew if you’re planning to escape KL for the weekend!
